Making your vision happen!
I sat with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart as I joined my brothers and sisters in France for a minute’s silence to remember the victims of the shootings on 7th January 2015 in Paris. I feel a strong connection with France and her people. I am re-learning French in preparation for spending more time there... a dream that my husband and I share. We are going back there in June and plan to take a longer trip later in the year. We’re beginning to live the dreams we’ve long had in any way we can for now rather than waiting for the ‘right time’.
Today I take a break from work and light a scented candle to accompany me in a mindfulness meditation, something that I’ve been meaning to do during my work day to refresh me and support my creativity. Until today I’ve been ‘too busy’ to do as I intended, resorting to being on auto pilot, only to chastise myself later for coming to the end of yet another day without living it the way I intended.
It’s so easy to forget the vision that had so inspired you when you first came up with it. And sometimes it takes the day’s horrific event to force us to take a good look at our life and our dream.
So is a dream or vision something that’s in the future or something that we should strive to have today?
I heard someone say that “everything we want, we already have”, and this got me recalling everything in my life now that I’m grateful for... my wonderful husband and the amazing relationship we have after twenty-one years together, our boys and the lives they have created for themselves with a bit of help from us along the way, the beautiful home we live in, the freedom I have to work in the way I choose to, the incredible uplifting scent from my Molton Brown I enjoy in the shower every morning (other brands are available!!)
In my opinion a dream or vision is in BOTH the future and in the here and now. Here are two simple things you can do to achieve both.
- Find ways to start living like you ideally want to NOW, even if it’s a simple first step. Remember that “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. Plan holidays in France until you can make that move you dreamed of. Appreciate the wonderful life you already have.
- Keep your big picture vision of your successful future in your mind every day. Put your vision board where you can see it every day. Feel the energy when you look at it and hold on to that.
Two simple things and yet not actually that easy to do. Why? Because we are human beings with a brain that tends to operate habitually. If you don’t want to come to the end of yet another year without living it the way you intended, Rapid Change Consultancy can help.
